Now that July's pretty much here and it finally seems to be warming up a bit (though, atm, it's a bit more breezy than I'd like), I finally got a new black bathing suit like I've been wanting to do for a while now. I LOVE it! Kinda retro looking & covers me up too:). It also goes perfect with my retro glasses and big black straw hat. Actually looking forward to hitting the beach and/or pool now lol (not that my old yellow woody swimsuit isn't cool...I still plan on wearing that one too). The Angels are currently 2nd in the American West League, the Galaxy are at the top of both leagues, I can smell barbecues sometimes, the county fair's almost here (and I can get in for $2 when I take the bus to it!), True Blood is on, my b-day's in nearly a month...yep, I'm liking that it's summer:)
So I was wondering not too long ago: why does it seem to most people that if you're Pagan, you're automatically a left wing liberal? Why can't you be a conservative that just happens to also be pagan? Now mind you, I'm not really one or the other...I guess you'd call me independent or M. O. R. (and trust me when I say I really am M. O R.), but I know that there is a lot more people out there than we've been lead to believe that are. I just find it sad that if you are a conservative Pagan, people are like, "no way, that can't we be right!" And why is being Pagan itself still such a taboo in the 21st century? I mean, there's so many books, articles & the like out there to get the correct information, you'd think those that wish to make a film or TV series dealing with Paganism would actually get it pretty close so that the uninformed wouldn't freak out if their loved one came out to them. Believe me, there's still enough drama being Pagan that it would still satisfy those that crave watching it. The same thing applies to being gay...come on folks, there's enough info out there to realize it really is NO BIG DEAL! Really, it's ok if someone doesn't swing the same way you do...does it change your life one bit if Adam & Steve down the street have the neighborhood's biggest & best wedding bash? No, didn't think so. News flash: gay folk know how to throw some pretty sweet parties and think about how much more money that would pump into the economy! Thank you NY legislators for passing such a milestone law & hopefully the legislators here in CA will open their eyes & do the same soon. Anyway, guess that's my rant of the day...hopefully it didn't turn too many stomachs:)
So a few nights ago, as I was trying to fall asleep, I started thinking (maybe because of the upcoming 4th of July?): what if we didn't win the revolutionary war? How would America be different? Would we still be called America? Would we be more like Canada where we have a quintessentially British style parliament & have the queen on our money? How long would we have been a British commonwealth? Or would we have still asserted our independence just at a later date? If we were not called the United States of America, what would we have been called (South Canada maybe? lol)? And what would South America be called? Ah, the things that make you go "hmmm"...
Just a bit about who, what & why...I'm almost 30, female & live in southern CA. As I have several & varied interests & thoughts, I figured this would give me a place to vent, rant, praise & ponder. I suppose no one'll particularly care, but meh, what can you do? Thanks in advance to anyone who follows this foolishness:)
