I was immediately intrigued, so I bought it and the whole ambience of Witchcraft, whimsy and rock and roll automatically struck a chord. If that sounds like something that also strikes your fancy, I highly recommend checking it out, and check out more on Veronica here:

Waking the Witch
In a new segment I'm calling "What I'm Reading," I'll be sharing books I have and my opinion on them. In this first installment, I'll review Waking the Witch by Pam Grossman: a well written, wonderfully paced examination between exploration of witches as a social avatar and her own life (can I just say right now, as someone the same age as the author, with a similar interests, I wish we'd known each other as teens? Perhaps there's still a chance lol). From The Wizard of Oz and Wicked, to Sabrina, The Craft, and The Witch (even Mary Poppins and Maleficent while examining a certain outlook that there's a certain "witchiness"/"unnaturalness" in a woman's decision to remain childless) among many other infamous icons and events, all are evaluated and related to their eras and how they might be seen in today's context. I'm still making my way through it at post time, but I'm definitely enjoying it and recommend it to anyone with an interest in the subject. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If you've read it, what are your thoughts? As ever, feel free to leave your comments below, and find the author at these links:
