American Girl goes 80s

It was a long time coming, but finally two things from my childhood that I love have come together: American Girl and the 80s...to say that I'm excited and looking forward to getting my hands on whatever I can from this collection is an understatement lol. Her name is Courtney Moore and those interested can check out her goods here. Let the nostalgia feels commence!

The Chain

This installment of "What I'm Reading" is one I finished a few months ago, The Chain by Adrian McKinty. Described as belonging "in the elite conpany of world-class thrillers like Gone Girl and The Silence of the Lambs," this psychological thriller is a gripping and quick read; I (who likes to call my reading "schizophrenic") was surprised at how fast I got through it due to wanting to find out hiw it all ended. Discovering who was The Chain's originator and the motive, was particularly enjoyable and the ending was satisfying in my opinion. A true edge of your seat read with plot twists aplenty, I highly recommend you check it out if this is your type of genre of literature. I  give it 5 out of 5.

Waking the Witch

In a new segment I'm calling "What I'm Reading," I'll be sharing books I have and my opinion on them. In this first installment, I'll review Waking the Witch by Pam Grossman: a well written, wonderfully paced examination between exploration of witches as a social avatar and her own life (can I just say right now, as someone the same age as the author, with a similar interests, I wish we'd known each other as teens? Perhaps there's still a chance lol). From The Wizard of Oz and Wicked, to Sabrina, The Craft, and The Witch (even Mary Poppins and Maleficent while examining a certain outlook that there's a certain "witchiness"/"unnaturalness" in a woman's decision to remain childless) among many other infamous icons and events, all are evaluated and related to their eras and how they might be seen in today's context. I'm still making my way through it at post time, but I'm definitely enjoying it and recommend it to anyone with an interest in the subject. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. If you've read it, what are your thoughts? As ever, feel free to leave your comments below, and find the author at these links:
